A stunning hand painted Indian prayer seat / stool. Dating from the turn of the 20th century, this beautiful folk art rustic hand painted seat shows a loving couple sitting together on a plush carpet, on a veranda - Accompanied by maids in waiting at their side. The backboard is supported upright by 2 cast metal hooks, that attach to metal retainers. When removed from the base panel, the back panel will fold down, but not completely flat. The temple design back panel is beautifully shaped, and is adorned with elephants in each upper corner.

Condition

In a very good solid condition, with minimal wear throughout, consistent with age and use. Additional condition report; Some paint loss, mainly from the gentleman on the lower seat part. Lower support hinge changed.
